Microsoft Office - Beginners
This is a new course which covers the fundementals of using Micorosft Office products. You will learn about Excel, Word and PowerPoint in this 8 week course. It is an ideal fore-runner to taking an ECDL because all 3 of these subjects are modules from the ECDL.
The course carries a £20 deposit which is returned if students attendat leat 6 of the 8 lesson and complete all the paperwork. If you meet these conditions then the course will be free.
Microsoft Digital Literacy Cirriculum
A course designed by Microsoft to help people get on to the IT ladder and prove it with certification. It covers all the basic elements of using a computer. There are 5 modules to it as shown below
Computer Basics - this module covers the basics of using a computer such as mouse, keyboard, managing files, operating systems and software.
The Internet and World Wide Web - this module covers browsing the internet and using email for communication.
Productivity Programmes - this module introduces you to Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Computer Security and Privacy - this modules covers virus's malware and keeping yourself safe from these threats. It also covers keeping your data private and the ethics of using computers.
Digital Lifestyles - this module covers media. This includes digital photography, video, and audio.
The course is over 10 weeks and each lesson is 3 hours long. There is an exam to take at the end for the certification.
This is a great beginners course which covers so many topics. It maps very well to the ECDL and can be used as a fore-runner to taking the ECDL next.
